This was my first attempt at thinking about what architecture can be. This watercolour painting portrays a multifaith underground prayer room. The space aims to offer a pocket of tranquility and relaxation that contrasts with the busyness and hectic character of a metropolis. The sculptural installation on the surface not only helps to easily identify the location of this prayer room, it also directs daylight to the level below, creating a shadow play that varies depending on the external weather conditions. This is a secluded space that does not detach itself completely from reality.
Running water has also been proposed as it enhances a tranquil atmosphere and helps to mute the external noise.
